Klassik am Odeonsplatz in July 2026 with Kirill Gerstein and Janine Jansen: Advance ticket sales start on November 21, 2025

Munich, November 17, 2025: Advance ticket sales for Klassik am Odeonsplatz 2026. Munich's most beautiful open-air classical music festival will take place next year for the 25th time. To mark the anniversary, the Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra and the Munich Philharmonic Orchestra once again present world-renowned soloists and masterpieces of the classical repertoire.The concerts will take place on July 11 and 12, 2026. In previous years, Klassik am Odeonsplatz has consistently sold out in a short time.

Klassik am Odeonsplatz has developed into one of the most important international classical open-air concerts with extensive media coverage on TV, radio, and online. In 2026, audiences can once again look forward to a musical highlight under the open sky. Due to renovation work on the Feldherrnhalle, a transparent arched stage will be erected, as in 2025, to create an atmospheric ambience. 14,000 visitors will be able to enjoy the two concert evenings live on site.

Classical music will remain a priority at Odeonsplatz in 2026: on Saturday, July 11, the Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra, conducted by its principal conductor Sir Simon Rattle, will open the music weekend with a program dedicated entirely to the American composer George Gershwin. Pianist Kirill Gerstein will make his debut as soloist, performing the Concerto for Piano and Orchestra in F major. The evening's program will also feature the overture to "Let 'Em Eat Cake," the orchestral medley "Porgy and Bess: Symphonic Picture" arranged by Robert Russell Bennett, and the tone poem "An American in Paris".

On Sunday, July 12, the Munich Philharmonic, under the direction of its designated Chief Conductor Lahav Shani – who has already thrilled audiences at Odeonsplatz over the past two years – takes the stage. Returning to Klassik am Odeonsplatz as soloist is the celebrated violinist Janine Jansen, performing Max Bruch’s Violin Concerto No. 1, one of the most important works in the violin repertoire. The program is framed by the Overture to Richard Wagner’s "The Flying Dutchman" and Felix Mendelssohn's Symphony No. 3 ("Scottish").

Since its premiere in 2000, Klassik am Odeonsplatz has been delighting audiences with classical music in a unique atmosphere, top-class artists, and the magnificent setting of one of Europe's most beautiful squares. The open-air event has become a crowd puller, attracting thousands of music fans from all over the world every year, including numerous public figures. In addition, Klassik am Odeonsplatz is considered an outstanding cultural media event with wide-reaching broadcasts on TV, radio, and online streams.
